Joanna is an accomplished professional performer, both as a soloist and in ensemble; she is a holder of the DipABRSM for Performance. She has studied with Veronica Dunne, Paul Deegan and Evelyn Dowling. Joanna is in UCD studying for a Bachelor of Music Degree, whilst maintaining her singing, conducting and teaching careers.
As a soprano soloist, she has enjoyed performing Handel’s Messiah and Fauré Requiem, the Vivaldi Gloria, the première of That yonge Child by Peter Parshall (broadcast on RTE Lyric FM) the Irish premiere of Francis Pott's My Song is Love Unknown, the Stabat Mater by Pergolesi, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, and the Dvorák Mass in D.
Joanna specialises in singing sacred music and is also a choral conducter and musical director. In the academic year 2005-2006, she was the Chorus Master and subsequently conductor of UCD College Choir.
Joanna is the Music Director of the Dun Laoghaire Golf Club Choir and resident Cantor in the Parish of Mary Immaculate Refuge of Sinners (Rathmines) for the 11am and 12.30pm Sunday masses. She especially enjoys the family mass and has begun to build up a children's choral 'gang' to lead the singing.
Joanna is a former Music Director of the church choir in Holy Rosary Church, Greystones, a Lay Clerk and soloist in Dublin's Christ Church Cathedral Choir, a trained cantor of the catholic church, a deputy of the National Chamber Choir and former member of An Uaithne (forerunner of Anùna).
